Why Fleets are Switching to Legend Linings to Help them be Truly Sustainable
You’re busy. You must ensure your fleet is moving and getting where they need to go.
And when it comes to your drivers, keeping them happy is one of your primary concerns. Their workspace - the cargo area of your vans - is where they spend their hours and the interior needs to be comfortable for them.
What about sustainability? Everyone is talking about sustainability, in every single industry. When it comes to van fleets, the vehicles themselves, and the aftermarket products put in the builds, are the two areas where fleets can make specific decisions to be more sustainable.
That’s why Legend has quickly grown to become an industry leader in North America and across the UK with their tough, lightweight, and sustainable cargo van floors and linings. A fleet van upfitted with Legend increases its resale value, lasts longer, provides a safer and more comfortable workspace for your drivers, and is fast and easy to install. As a fleet manager, let Legend help you with this essential part of your equipment.
Legend’s interior cargo van flooring options are made of 75% recycled materials as well as are very lightweight and tough compared to other industry liners. Over in the UK, Riverford Organic Farmers knew this when they elected to use Legend’s van liners exclusively for their fleet.
Riverford are one of the UK's largest organic food retailers. They are unique in that they grow and deliver their products across the UK, covering approximately 85,000 households every single week. A huge responsibility and one that demanded the business became sustainable.
“All (Legend’s) products are 75% recycled which is brilliant for our environmental credentials”, says James Welton, Fleet Manager for Riverford about their EVOLVE flooring upfitted into their Ford electric E-Transit vehicles. “Because of the lightweight nature of the EVOLVE flooring, we can carry around 35 kilos more payload for every delivery trip.” For Welton, this translated to a remarkable increase in product that could be carried when out on the road. This, in turn increased the number of deliveries they could complete, and more importantly, increased the range of their electric vehicles which trickled down into a significant increase in profitability.
Plywood floors, the most common stop-gap measure for van floors, does not break down and splinters easily putting workers at risk.
You don’t necessarily have time to think about how to safeguard your vans from daily wear and tear. That’s why Legend has quickly grown to become an industry leader with their tough, lightweight, and sustainable cargo van floors and linings. A fleet van upfitted with Legend increases its resale value, lasts longer, provides a safer and more comfortable workspace for your drivers, and is fast and easy to install.
An interesting, and recurring, fact is that once fleet owners have Legend products installed, new benefits emerge that weren’t apparent before. “With EVOLVE flooring, there is a really high grip rating,” Welton adds, “which stops product moving around and helps our drivers when they’re out on the road.”
The pressure for suppliers to manufacture and deliver completely sustainable products has shattered expectations and resulted in a great deal of scrambling in many industries to keep up. Customers are demanding their manufacturers and suppliers produce reliable, durable, sustainable products to help their bottom line. Now more than ever, this new demand has positioned companies to either deliver or sink. Legend, since the beginning, has lead their industry and gained remarkable traction in cargo van upfitting, emerging as not only an industry leader, but a product innovator to be reckoned with.
With a powerful four-part mantra, “Be Legendary, Sit In Their Seat, Foot To The Floor, and Drive Change,” Legend Fleet Solutions owns their niche. Customers know this and continually turn to Legend’s products, usually after hearing about the company’s products repeatedly through dealers, upfitters, distributors and end-users. Legend’s position at the forefront of the industry is strengthened by the commitment to our mission of continuous innovation and delivering for the Legends of the road.
As a result of this proficiency, Riverford are not the only ones to see the incredibly high value, economic sense, and sustainability of Legend’s product line.
Vinci Construction Group made the switch to Legend after they realized they needed a lighter, safer and more sustainable product for their work vans as they electrified their fleet. One of the few companies to understand and embrace the incredible growth of electric vehicles (EVs) now and in the coming years, Legend has developed products that stand out and have gotten noticed.
“It’s not just the one product,” says Rob Fellows, Fleet Operations Manager of Vinci. “We needed something that fits into the whole range of development. The non-slip finish, the recycled gen. Sustainability.”
Vinci had committed to a 40% reduction in their overall CO2 emissions as a business, and to migrate their whole van fleet, over 1600 vehicles, over the next few years to a fully electrical and zero emission fleet. The one thing that Rob saw was not just one product or two, it was Legend’s generational approach to manufacturing that caught his attention, the range of products and its siblings.
Greenthumb Lawn care cargo van fleet (UK).
Greenthumb Lawn Care also took notice. They needed flooring in their van fleet that could withstand the hard abuse of daily lawncare equipment being loaded in and out with all the bangs, scrapes, scuffs and gouges that come with the process, yet at the same time, lightweight liners that wouldn’t weigh down a vehicle with unnecessary payload. A tall order for most manufacturers but for Legend it was business as usual.
Martin Hailwood, Operations Department of Greenthumb, recognized that the plywood lining in their vans splintered and allowed for water ingress during the daily knocks of loading their heavy machinery in and out of their vans. The moment of clarity arrived when he saw a Legend product demonstration at a trade show and was immediately impressed with the virtual indestructibility of a Legend floor. The other compelling fact that Legend offered was the incredibly light weight of the product. It allowed Greenthumb to load knapsacks of water onto their vans without worrying about the excess weight of heavy plywood to burden energy efficiency.
With Greenthumb’s new Green Policy, one of the key considerations was sustainability and Legend’s 75% recycled materials in their floors tipped the scales for Greenthumb.
